Agios (agios.com) is a biopharmaceutical company committed to applying our scientific leadership in cellular metabolism to transform the lives of patients with cancer and rare genetic diseases. We are growing rapidly with an active research and discovery pipeline across both therapeutic areas. Agios has two approved oncology precision medicines and multiple first-in-class investigational therapies in clinical and/or preclinical development.. We are seeking a Senior Scientist to lead our High-Throughput Biochemistry efforts. The Sr. Scientist will have deep knowledge and demonstrated track record of assay development and validation of high throughput screening assays (biochemical, cellular, biophysical, other) on cost-effective technical platforms. This individual will have demonstrated scientific leadership both at the bench and at data capture and analyses, together with broad experiences in large-scale protein chemistry, good understanding of enzymology, and skilled assay development trouble-shooting ability. The candidate is expected to have experience in the exploration of new technology platforms to enhance the infrastructure for discovery program support and identifying innovative technologies that enhance value and efficiency of overall HTS of portfolio projects. This role requires strong collaborative and written/verbal communication skills and a positive attitude to interact with multiple stakeholders (e.g. therapeutic area teams, Chemistry and Biology leads, chemo/bio-informatics, and external CROs), and proven ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous screening projects.. Key Responsibilities:. Development and improvement of HTS platform suitable for Agios portfolio objectives which can support multiple novel-targeting therapeutic programs. Establishment of high-throughput screening processes in collaboration with CRO partners that conform to industry quality standards and efficiency. Collaboration with discovery research teams in the development of experimental and technical protocols, best practices, and LIMS systems for data capture, interrogation and analysis. Potential to lead the Compound Management function. Minimum Requirements:. Ph.D. with 5+ years of experience, or BS/MS with 10+ years of experience in small-molecule drug discovery with broad knowledge in compound screening strategy.
