Thermal Spray Coatings Technician Non-Exempt

As a key member of the Coatings Department at Hanwha Aerospace USA candidates will be responsible for applying various coatings and completing related processing on customer hardware utilizing the thermal spray process and coatings on to components. Candidates will be use automated thermal spray equipment to achieve these goals. Candidates will perform pre-application preparation of parts and post-application tasks for subsequent operations.

Reports to: Coatings Engineer Manager
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Communicate frequently with other employees regarding work instructions.
Communicate any problems to supervisors or other departments as required through work records and other means as necessary.
Operate robotic equipment for the purpose of applying coatings.
Perform periodic process tests for quality control.
Perform various levels of equipment maintenance and environmental and safety maintenance.
Follow all safety and environmental rules that apply.
Use safety and personal protection equipment correctly.
Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts.
Position requires constant communication with engineers, lab technicians, and other employees to improve results of complex processes.
Proficient at masking and surface preparation of parts for coatings systems, plasma and HVOF systems.
Prepare parts for thermal spray coatings, including cleaning, masking, blasting, and any other processes that may be required.
Set up and operate thermal spray equipment in accordance with specifications and other work instructions.
Select and apply specified coatings.
Handle all coatings in accordance with safety, quality, process control, and security policies.

Participate in training as required
5-10% Domestic Travel required
Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.
Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend, and move about our facility
High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in thermal spray (plasma and HVOF) processing aerospace, industrial turbine and oil and gas industry parts is desired.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
Ability to read gauges and micrometers for checking part dimensions
Ability to follow quality, material control and work instruction documentation.
The ability to learn new processes and techniques for thermal spray processes.
Ability to speak effectively using the English language to communicate with supervisors and other staff members within the organization.
