We are searching for a talented Fire Safety Director to be based out of 1 Metrotech Center in Brooklyn, NY .

Schedule:

Monday - Friday: 8am - 5pm (with overtime for periodic schedule work)

The FS-EAP Director/Security Director responsibility involves all aspect of security/life safety including, but not limited to staffing, building security, security policies and procedure, security and life safety equipment, and all fire prevention and protection policies. In undertaking the responsibility as Life Safety/Security Director comes the understanding that the individual will act in a Management role to represent the company and fulfill obligations to the best of their ability to protect occupants and property. The Life Safety/Security Director while on duty will represent First New York Partners and FCRC Security Services Company with the utmost professional and business-like manner at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Managerial & Administrative responsibilities include the following: Initial screening of all security personnel before they are hired by the Building Manager; scheduling and coverage of all shifts; generating accurate weekly payroll for all security personnel; keeping track of all security personnel benefits (e.g., sick, vacation, personal days); ensuring that all security personnel are in compliance with NYS Guard Registration Act; generating disciplinary action report on all security personnel and notifying Building Manager of same; ensuring that all security personnel are appropriately attired in the proper issued uniform at all times; training and education of all security personnel; keeping security personnel informed of all changes in building procedures; creating and implementing all new security procedures and keeping them updated; issuing staff ID/ Access Cards and safeguarding the database information; maintenance of the Alarm Monitoring and Access Control System; checking the condition of all Posts. (e.g., cleanliness, lighting, general appearance); issuing and controlling all building keys to tenant representatives and building staff; generating, filing and distributing accurate incident reports and investigating all incidents, and checking operation of all building radios and accounting for these radios, up to and including their maintenance.
  • Daily Preventative responsibilities include the following: On time shift relief to maintain Fire Safety Director coverage at all times; reviewing all daily log entries regarding security and fire prevention and maintaining the integrity of the Log book; reviewing all daily, visitors, tenants and building employees access cards sign-in logs to ensure that proper procedures are being followed; verifying that the Access Control and Alarm Monitoring System are operational and system information is current; verifying that all shifts are covered and schedules are posted; verifying that all CCTV cameras and switching equipment are operational at all times, and verifying that all DVR s are recording at the correct speed, time and date and that the tapes are being rotated.
  • Life Safety managerial, administrative preventative and investigative responsibilities include the following: Responsibility for the proper operation of the Class E system headend, all field signaling devices and protection equipment; maintaining all required Fire Department Logbooks as specified by Local Law No.5; required monthly Fire Department testing for fire prevention/protection; training all Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, Building Fire Brigade and Building Evacuation Supervisors; managing the daily Fire Wardens/Deputy Wardens signing log; scheduling and conducting all building Fire/Evacuation drills; monthly inspection and maintenance of all Fire Extinguishers; generating and distributing monthly Commercial Management Self Inspection Report; scheduling annual inspection of Fire Extinguishers with vendor; conducting the monthly elevator recall testing and maintaining records; conducting monthly communication testing of the Class E System with central station; conducting semi-annual testing of the Class E System signaling devices; conducting daily inspection of the building for fire prevention and protection; checking the safety edge and all roll-up gates to ensure proper operation; checking all elevators for proper operation, including elevator display panel; scheduling the cleaning of all elevator pits, and notifying the elevator company and maintaining of records when elevators are not operating properly.
  • Qualifications

  • This position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 3-5 years of required experience in FDNY DFSD mixed use facility.
  • 6-10 years required experience of security work in commercial office facility.
  • Required licenses/certifications for this position include: NYS Security license and FDNY FSD/EAP Directors Certificate.
  • Required skills for the position include: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet software, verbal and written communication, and strong customer service skills for tenant interaction.
  • This position requires up to 10% travel.
