Overview

The Quality Technician Lead is a skilled leader and subject matter expert within a specific technical area(s) of quality valued by multiple business units and their customers. Examples include Dimensional, Chemical, Informational, and Operator-based areas of technical subject matter expertise. The primary responsibilities of this position include collaborative, strategic and tactical problem solving. Additionally, this position plays a key partner and support role to the Quality and Engineering department. In this partnership capacity, it will be necessary to influence, and present to, Plant Leadership Teams across the Company. Effective relationship building and communication with these leadership teams is critical.

  • Responsibilities

    Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in development of quality system solutions that are effective and sustained.
  • Provide cultural focus and cultural of quality coaching to site Quality and operations.
  • Provide strong customer intimacy and voice-of-customer knowledge base to design teams, operations teams, and marketing teams.
  • Strategic and tactical problem solving, assist in creation of work instruction and standard work documents to local site project deployment teams.
  • Continuously monitor product and process trends for changes in quality and related issues over the course of time.
  • Develop and teach methods of evaluation and improvement in the specified area of focus.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop technicians in their area of subject matter expertise.
  • Utilize product knowledge in go/no go decisions on questionable product.
  • Work closely with the Engineering department gathering data for various projects.
  • Read blueprint drawings to verify if supplier material is to specifications when necessary.
  • Assist the production and engineering groups in the development and maintenance of stable and capable processes.
  • Communicate, document, and help train operators on the customer requirements.
  • Perform advanced product testing.
  • Measurement equipment support and training.
  • Participate in daily meetings and projects to address recurring issues by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update QMS documents and quality contents as needed.
  • Secondary Reponsibility

  • Develop solutions to complex problems requiring a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovativeness. Challenges are unique and solutions may serve as precedent for future decisions.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

  • Associates/Bachelors degree in a relevant field, or High school graduates with 5-7 years of leadership experience required.
  • 3 years experience / or equivalent knowledge of quality systems.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, Creole, or Hindi is a plus.
  • Good computer skills: Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work collaboratively or lead fellow Quality Technicians on various continuous improvement projects.
  • Knowledge and ability to use multiple types of measuring equipment: Calipers, depth gauge, etc.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Exceptional facilitation skills in both formal and informal settings
  • Strong leadership, influencing and planning skills.
  • Strong coaching and teaching skills.
  • Preferred experience in an assembly or Equivalent processing environment
  • Exposure to Lean Quality management systems, quality tools and production processes.
  • Experience with product conformance testing with closed loop corrective action.
  • Proven track record of working closely with development/process engineers and management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Ability to assess and analyze risk on a day to day basis.
  • Proven leadership approach to deliver on business results.
