WSP is currently initiating a search for a **Supervising Electrical Engineer** for our **Albany, New York** office.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to be responsible for leading and performing electrical design and to assist in the business development for electrical and mechanical disciplines within our Transportation and Infrastructure Sector with the ultimate goal of growing an MEP engineering practice in our Albany, New York Office. Candidates should be self-starters who bring positive attitude, integrity, and enthusiasm to our team. This is an excellent technical leadership position for a proficient engineer to influence production of engineering design for a national client base in an internationally recognized global firm in a field designated for expansion.
# Duties and Responsibilities
**A.** Position primarily involves leading and performing electrical power distribution systems engineering, and associated control systems engineering design for various building, campus, roadway and tunnel facilities including: heavy rail transit systems, light rail transit systems, roadway tunnel and supporting facilities, airports, pumping stations, industrial, commercial and institutional projects. Technical and resource support will be available from the Northeast Region's Mechanical/Electrical Groups in other locations. Candidate's responsibilities to include:
1.) Serve as a project technical lead and perform electrical design criteria documents, electrical design directive drawings, electrical standard design drawings, electrical systems basis of design documents, electrical system calculations, electrical system technical analyses, electrical system contract design drawings, outline specifications and performance based specifications for electrical power distribution systems, involving:
+ Service utility coordination
+ Power distribution at high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage
+ Lighting and lighting control systems design
+ Fire alarm
+ Low voltage infrastructure
+ Emergency power systems
+ UPS system design
+ Design coordination with mechanical, plumbing and architectural design disciplines
+ Miscellaneous control design for mechanical systems such as low point and storm water pumps, sewerage ejector pumps or ventilation fans
2.) Prepare facility equipment electrical control system engineering analyses, reports and design documents for power equipment including: equipment circuit breaker schematic control diagrams, equipment block diagrams, equipment elementary wiring diagrams, equipment load shed controls, connection diagrams, and local control station design.
3.) Knowledge of national, state and local building codes and standards which include: NFPA-70 (NEC) National Electrical Code, NFPA 101 Life/Safety Code, NFPA-130 Transit Rail Systems Code, NEMA Equipment Manufacturing Standards, ANSI Equipment Standards.
4.) Develop construction cost estimates for power and associated control systems.
5.) Provide support during construction activities.
6.) Perform site surveys for system data gathering for utility service interface design and existing power and control system interface design.
7.) Attend meetings with clients, city and state agencies, utility service representatives and project teams.
8.) Project assignments may include, although not limited to, vehicular or rail tunnels, telecommunication facilities, traffic management centers, transit centers, transit maintenance facilities, airport facilities, parking structures, pump stations, or bridge infrastructure.
**B.** In a secondary role, in conjunction with local office management, the candidate will be responsible to assist in developing objectives to increase mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) engineering business with selected clients (strategic focus) including, State agencies, developers, architects, owners, owners' representatives, etc. Coordinating with local office management, the candidate will also have responsibility for assisting in the developing and managing key client relationships and, gathering and disseminating market/pursuit intelligence.
**C.** Candidate will be proficient in bid preparations, financial tracking, document management and will also possess strong project management and communications skills that will encompass project presentations and client presentations. Effective multi-discipline staff communications abilities with all levels are also essential.

# Job Requirements
+ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
+ Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or ability to obtain license is required.
+ At least 10 years' experience in engineering and design of electrical power and associated control systems.
+ Proficiency with AutoCAD or Microstation is desired and proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required. Experience with REVIT building electrical system design is desired. Experience with industry standard short circuit calculation programs is required.
+ **Experience to include:** facility surveys, reports, feasibility studies, design, specifications, cost estimating, construction activity support and supervision of less experienced engineers and designers and technicians. Areas of experience should include one or more of the following categories of facilities: vehicular and rail tunnels, transit, aviation, industrial, commercial, educational, health care, or governmental.
+ Good writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
+ Candidates must be able to immediately legally work in this Country without sponsorship.

+ LEED AP is preferred.
